Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) will host the launch event on Tuesday 17th March of a powerful new exhibition bringing together original artwork by asylum-seeking women and exquisite textile crafts made by locally resettled Afghan refugee women, as part of the Cambridge Festival. The exhibition runs at ARU from 17–24 March 2026.
The exhibition offers a window into the cultures and creative voices of women who have sought safety and a new beginning. Through painting, drawing, textile work, and craft, the works speak to joy and hope, as much as resilience and memory, and are the result of workshops run by Oblique Arts, with the support of Cambridge Refugee Resettlement Campaign and Cambridge Women’s Resources Centre, and Cambridge City Council.
