Cambridge Philharmonic’s ‘Refuge’ concert was attended by an enthusiastic crowd in a packed house at West Road Concert Hall in Saturday 24th May. Jonathan Dove’s piece Odyssey, about a refugee’s journey, was especially moving and 17 free tickets were taken up by local refugee families, including a large group of Iranians keen to hear Rouzbeh Parsa’s kamancheh concerto. Claire Coates represented the Board of Trustees and Meltem Avcil, a regular CRRC volunteer and former asylum-seeker, gave a speech and vote of thanks. We are delighted to report that almost £1000 was raised on the night and are very grateful to the Cambridge Philharmonic for this wonderful support.
